Horned Ewes
Copper Copper (544097-NH)
Copper is our flock matriarch, older and wiser than the average sheep, her calm, take-charge demeanor is much appreciated! She has Icelandic sire Pettir in her ancestry as well as Jager and Yeoman farm lines. Copper is an excellent mother and her lambs have an astounding growth rate. By four months they are adult-sized, with the same broad build as their mother. Copper is very milky, with huge, productive udder. She lambs easily and without assistance every year. Copper’s fleece is rich in phaeomelanin and “white” doesn’t accurately describe her beautiful coppery color.
Daisy and Stewart Daisy (592175)
Daisy is Copper’s daughter. She has the same easy going temperament as her mother and a similar broad build. Her lambs have lovely soft fleeces and spunky personalities. Daisy carries solid moorit, and this year she produced a lamb with a lovely rich red fleece. Daisy has an impressive ancestry that includes Icelandic sires Bambi and Pettir.
Leela Leela (606441-H):
Leela is a moorit badgerfaced ewe with a wonderful fleece, rich in luster and with the subtle variations in color that make the badgerfaced pattern so wonderful to work with. She is a friendly ewe, who always comes “visiting” along the fence line when she sees us. Her ancestry includes Icelandic sire Prestur. We are looking forward to Leela’s first lambs this spring.
Polled Ewes
Acorn Acorn (583229):
Acorn has a beautiful solid moorit fleece with subtle variations in it. She is a big broad ewe with a very friendly and curious personality. Like Louise, Acorn has Heli on both sides of her family tree. We are looking forward to her first lambs this year.
Penny Penny (581784):
Penny is Acorn’s best buddy. She’s quite assertive for a polled ewe and we’ve seen her hold her own against some of the horned members of the flock. Penny has plenty of “structure”; she is big all over, with exceptionally broad hindquarters. Penny’s ancestry includes Icelandic sires Heli, Sveppur, Flekkur, and Solon. We are looking forward to her first lambs this year.
Rams
CharlieB
CharlieB
Charlie Bucket (--):
Charlie is Copper’s progeny, an amazingly quick growing lamb with the big build we are looking for. His fleece is long and lustrous with lots of crimp. And his horns are already massive already and plenty wide. We are very impressed with this boy. He has a calm temperament, great build and awesome genetics. In addition, he is showing a high degree of parasite and heat resistance.
Bombadil Bombadil (615428):
Our polled ram, Bombadil has a terrific lustrous fleece. Gray-black with a soft gray thel. He has a calm and curious personality, and a good, long-bodied build. Bombadil’s dam, Maple View Farm’s Big Girl, is out of Yeoman Farm.
Dogs
Maggie
Maggie, our border collie is the inspiration for both our farm and our farm's name. While Icelandic sheep are not easy to herd, Maggie keeps an eye out and assists when she can.
Maggie
Luka
Luka is our newest canine addition. She's an icelandic sheepdog and we are excited about preserving and promoting this rare breed. We expect that Luka will help around the farm in the years to come. She has already shown quite a bit of intelligence and drive
